SIB₃ environment

SIB₃ is located in the Novosibirsk Scientific and Educational Center, called Akademgorodok, which is a conglomerate of about 30 institutions providing a fertile ground for research in mathematics, physics, chemistry, computer science, automatic control systems, and other areas.

Today, numerous private companies work in Academgorodok as well, including a number of software development teams. Companies like Microsoft, Sun Microsystems, Northern Telecom, to name just a few, have been setting up offices in Novosibirsk and cooperating with highly skilled software scientists of Academgorodok.

The History

The history of our team began in the Informatics Department of the Computing Center, Novosibirsk, later transformed into the Institute of Informatics Systems (IIS). For many years it has been one of the leading Soviet and Russian teams in the field of computer science, artificial intelligence, and programming. Further growth of the team resulted in the next generation of organizations - RRIAI, LEDAS, and others.

One of such organizations is SIB₃. For its formation, an international investment project called S3 (1999-2001) was of decisive importance, due to the invaluable contacts with a number of successful players in the international market, such as Exigen, Genesys, Intelengine, Transnet, Krestgroup, and Nowagrowth. Both through the partnership with LEDAS and directly, the staff of SIB₃ got a unique experience of working together with world-famous companies like Dassault Aviation and Dassault Systemes.

The SIB₃ team is a living and developing organization. Some of its members have been working together for fifteen years: from science to industrial software projects. Some joined the team 2-3 years ago while students of Novosibirsk University, which is not more than 300 meters from the SIB₃ office.
